DFDS Seaways Has Added a New Ship To Its Fleet of Luxury Cruise Liners

    COPENHAGEN, Denmark, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- DFDS Seaways is pleased to
 announce the acquisition of the passenger ship STAR AQUARIUS, ex. ATHENA, from
 Star Cruises.
     It will replace the m.s. Queen of Scandinavia on the Copenhagen-
 Helsingborg-Oslo route with the inaugural sailing scheduled for the end of
 June 2001.
     The new ship will be DFDS Seaways' largest sailing vessel, which will
 accommodate more than two thousand passengers.  The new addition will provide
 for increased passenger traffic on the company's most popular route.
 
     The Amsterdam-Newcastle Service
     In the future, the m.s. Queen of Scandinavia will operate the Amsterdam-
 Newcastle service, the most rapidly growing service in DFDS Seaways.  The
 Queen will replace the m.s. King of Scandinavia and provide the route with a
 capacity of 1600 passengers against the King's 1000 passengers.
 
     New Route
     From spring 2002 the King of Scandinavia will be entered into service on a
 new route between Copenhagen, Denmark, and Gdansk/Gdynia in Poland.
 
     Investment
     The total investment for the acquisition of the new ship, rebuilding,
 renovation and rotation of the three mentioned ships amounts to approximately
 100 million USD.
