'Dick Clark's Music Calendar' to Launch on United Stations Radio Networks; Daily Historical Rock Feature Hosted by Broadcasting Legend

Apr 10, 2001, 01:00 ET from United Stations Radio Networks, Inc.

NEW YORK, April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- United Stations today unveiled its
newest original daily short-form program, "Dick Clark's Music Calendar."
United Stations President/CEO Nicholas J. Verbitsky made this announcement
today. This new daily feature, hosted by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee
and United Stations Co-Founder, Dick Clark, traces each calendar date for its
connection and impact to the history of rock and roll. "Dick Clark's Music
Calendar" is targeted primarily for Oldies formats, but the network expects a
broad range of radio stations to join its affiliate lineup. The daily,
seven-day-a-week feature is available to radio stations immediately.
Dick Clark helped introduce one of the most distinct generations in
American culture and music. Today, through his radio programs and television
productions, he is still known for his deep association with popular music.
United Stations will oversee all network functions for this radio feature,
while working on the creative content with Dick Clark Productions. Each
installment will have access to an interview archive that has been collected
by Clark over the past 40 years.
"Even with all the rock and roll history that Dick Clark has witnessed,
there's never been a short-form program to enable Dick to share these
milestones on a daily basis. He's a great fan of all sorts of music, and by
being in the thick of music history, he's built a loyal audience among radio
stations, their listeners and advertisers," remarked Verbitsky.
Dick Clark's additional on-air credits for United Stations Radio Networks
include hosting two weekly long-form music-driven entertainment programs.
"Rock, Roll & Remember" is currently heard on nearly 200 stations nationwide
and "The U.S. Music Survey," an Adult Contemporary countdown, is a staple on
 nearly 100 stations.
During his impressive career in the business, Dick Clark has been involved
in hundreds of award, music and variety specials as well as game shows and
reality-based television programs. Several noteworthy credits include Host
and Producer of American Bandstand and The Best of American Bandstand for
VH-1; host of both the $10,000 and the $25,000 Pyramid as well as producer
for several of television's longest running awards shows including The
American Music Awards, The Academy of Country Music Awards, The Golden Globe
Awards and the Daytime Emmys. Dick Clark is also a recipient of numerous
industry citations including the Peabody Award, the Christopher Award, the
Iris Award, the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of
Broadcasters (NAB) as well as multiple Emmy and Grammy Awards.
United Stations Radio Networks, Inc., is the nation's largest
independently owned and operated radio network. The company currently
distributes and produces several format specific services to over 3000 rated
radio stations across the country, including Adult Contemporary, Album Rock,
Contemporary Hit, Country, Oldies, Smooth Jazz, Urban and Talk. The New York
based company was founded in 1994 by radio pioneers Dick Clark and Nick
 Verbitsky.
