Directors Elected at CB Bancshares, Inc.

    HONOLULU, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- CB Bancshares, Inc. (Nasdaq:   CBBI): At
 its annual shareholders meeting held on Thursday, April 26, 2001, three
 directors were elected by shareholders of CB Bancshares, Inc., which is the
 holding company of City Bank.
     Of the three directors elected, Duane K. Kurisu, partner, Kurisu & Fergus,
 and Mike K. Sayama, Vice President, Health Benefits Management, Hawaii Medical
 Services Association, are new directors of CB Bancshares, Inc., while an
 incumbent director, Tomio Fuchu, counselor, Kyokuto Securities, Co., Ltd., was
 re-elected by shareholders.

     TOMIO FUCHU
     Tomio Fuchu serves as counselor of Kyokuto Securities, Co., Ltd., and
 director and counselor of Dart Coffee Company, Ltd.  Mr. Fuchu is also a
 director of City Bank.
     Mr. Fuchu graduated from Keio University with a bachelor's of arts degree
 in economics in March of 1962.  A month later, he joined Mitsui Bank, Ltd.,
 and worked his way into various management positions.  In April of 1990,
 Mitsui Bank merged with the Taiyo Kobe Bank, to form the Mitsui Taiyo Kobe
 Bank, Ltd.  Tomio Fuchu was named general manager of the Tokyo Main Office,
 Division II, for the newly formed bank.  In 1992, the bank was re-named the
 Sakura Bank, Ltd., and Mr. Fuchu was positioned as the bank's director and
 general manager of the International Planning Division.  He later became
 Sakura's managing director and general manager of the International Planning
 Division in June of 1994. In June 1995, he joined Kyokuto Securities Co.,
 Ltd., as chairman, where he oversaw the firm's trading in stocks, bonds, and
 debentures, as well as its investment trust business securities.  In June
 2000, he resigned as chairman of Kyokuto Securities, Ltd., and became the
 company's counselor.  In December 2000, he became director and counselor of
 Dart Coffee, Co., Ltd.
 
     DUANE K. KURISU
     Duane K. Kurisu is a partner in the firm of Kurisu & Fergus, a partnership
 he established with Michael Fergus.  The firm owns shopping centers, office
 buildings, and warehouses in Hawaii, Washington, and California.
     Mr. Kurisu was born in Hilo and graduated from Hilo High School.  He
 earned his bachelor's and his master's degree in business administration from
 the University of Hawaii.

     Mike Sayama, after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale
 University, received both his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
 in Clinical Psychology from the University of Michigan.  While attending
 college, he received numerous academic honors including Summa Cum Laude and
 Phi Beta Kappa and was an American psychological Association Minority Fellow.
     Mr. Sayama is licensed as a psychologist in the State of Hawaii and is
 certified by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.
