ST. CHARLES, Mo., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- There have been nine competitions so far in Royal Canin's 2009 DockDogs sponsorship, all leading up to the final event where the 2009 National Champions will be crowned. With 400 of the most experienced teams traveling from all parts of the country to compete, this final event will be a true exhibition of the nation's most athletic canines. It will also represent the final event in Royal Canin's 2009 sponsorship with the dock jumping and dock diving performance sport association.
"As first-time sponsor of the DockDogs events, we couldn't have been happier with the way that the 2009 season has gone," said Ann Hudson, Retail Marketing Director at Royal Canin. "We've gotten a chance to be a part of a group that is truly passionate about the health and wellbeing of these phenomenal animals, and we've witnessed some spectacular displays of athleticism. It's great to know that Royal Canin® Canine Health Nutrition(TM) has helped some of these animals achieve and maintain such incredible health."
With Labradors composing more than 59% of the DockDogs competitors, Royal Canin's Labrador Retriever 30(TM) provides a customized diet for the majority of the DockDogs participants. The special diet is formulated to:
- Keep a constantly wet dog's skin and coat protected
- Help the Labs maintain a leaner, more muscular build for their strenuous activity
- Protect their joints from stress
- Slow cellular aging
- Maintain cognitive function
In addition to Labrador Retriever 30(TM), Royal Canin provides a nutritional solution for 12 other purebred dogs, as well as diets tailored to specific ages, lifestyles, and special needs. "We know that great nutrition is the key to a great dog regardless of their activity level," said Hudson, "and seeing our diets contribute to the health of the incredible DockDogs competitors is a firsthand example of Royal Canin's mission."
The 2009 DockDogs National Championships will be held at Kings Island Resort & Conference Center in Mason, Ohio. For more information about the DockDogs organization or its partnership with Royal Canin, visit www.dockdogs.com.
