"This is a great day for both Brooklyn and Domino's," said Dave Brandon,
chairman and CEO, Domino's Pizza. "We are excited to be opening our 7,000th
store in Brooklyn and proud to contribute to the rejuvenation of Fulton
Street. This growth is a testament to the passion and commitment of our more
than 120,000 associates around the globe -- from the U.S. to Mexico, from
Japan to India. Each day, our Domino's team members bring us closer to our
goal of being the best pizza delivery service in the world."
A ribbon-cutting celebration will mark the historic opening of Domino's
7,000th store today at 1479 Fulton Street. Dave Brandon will present Asi
Sheikh, corporate operations director of the 7,000th store, with a plaque
naming the store as a historic site. This is a particularly monumental
occasion for Mr. Sheikh, who joined Domino's as a driver in 1984 and 17 years
later, is managing 40 Domino's stores throughout Brooklyn, Queens and the
Bronx. Mr. Sheikh embodies the spirit of opportunity at Domino's. "Opening
Domino's 7,000th store is a personal milestone as well as one for the
company," said Mr. Sheikh. "Cutting this ribbon at our grand opening makes me
realize just how far we've come."
Domino's commitment to Brooklyn extends beyond delivering the best pizzas.
During the grand opening ceremony, Domino's will show its commitment to the
Brooklyn community and the people it serves by presenting a $7,000 donation to
the Brooklyn chapter of The Madison Square Boys & Girls Club. A portion of
the donation will be awarded to the organization's local candidate for Youth
of the Year, Joselyn Brito, as a college scholarship.
Deborah Weeks, Commissioner, New York City Department of Business
Services, who will deliver a special message from the Mayor; Peter Serafino,
vice president, Empire State Development Corporation; members of the Boys &
Girls Club Board of Directors; and Domino's leadership team, and team members
 will join the celebration.
The 7,000th store festivities will include a super-speedy pizza making
demonstration from one of the all-time best in the world -- Chris Witting,
1998 World's Fastest Pizza Making Champ, who is competing in the Tournament of
 Champs in May.

Domino's Pizza Celebrates the Opening of its 7,000th Store Worldwide

Domino's Pizza is celebrating the opening of its 7,000th store worldwide
in Brooklyn, NY on April 10, 2001. To put this historic number in
perspective, Domino's has uncovered some famous and fun "7,000" facts.

-- On average, a woman will speak 7,000 words over the course of a day
while a man will only speak 2000 words in the same period of time.
Could it be because men are too busy stuffing themselves speechless
         with pizza?

-- Victor Hugo's great classic Les Miserables was called "one of the best
sellers of the ages." Within 24 hours of publication in 1862, the
first 7,000 copies of the Paris edition were completely sold out. But
France is not only known for good books -- the spicy chicken wings
Domino's offers on its menu are imported from France.*

-- Just sitting and doing nothing, the average person burns 1,700
calories of energy, or 7,000 kilojoules over the course of 24 hours.
That's equal to 3.3 large Classic Hand Tossed Domino's cheese pizzas!
         So sit back, and eat!

-- Aside from medical costs, it's been determined that new parents in the
United States typically spend $7,000 in a baby's first year on
everything from diapers to formula to day care. But they can save
money on teething rings! According to Leilah McCracken, author of
Resexualizing Childbirth, pizza crust is great for teething babies,
usually after six or seven months of age.**

-- Japan is one of the most competitive soft drink markets in the world.
There are more than 7,000 different soft drinks sold in the country.
And what better food to compliment an ice-cold soft drink than pizza?
The Japanese enjoy unusual toppings, like those offered on Domino's
seafood special, including squid, shrimp, scallop, onion, green pepper
         and extra cheese.
