Universal Studios have today jointly announced a five-year extension of their
 distribution agreement.
In making the announcement, Ron Meyer, president and chief operating
officer, Universal Studios, said, "We greatly value our relationship with
DreamWorks and its principals. We have enjoyed many achievements together
over the years, culminating in our worldwide success with both 'Meet the
Parents' and 'Gladiator.' I am delighted that we can now take this great
partnership into the future and build on our outstanding momentum."
DreamWorks partner Steven Spielberg stated, "This alliance is particularly
gratifying for me because Universal has been an important part of my life for
32 years. I look forward to five more years of a collaborative and rewarding

DreamWorks principal Jeffrey Katzenberg added, "DreamWorks and Universal
have a five-year history that has seen both companies grow a great deal.
After months of discussions with various companies, Vivendi Universal
demonstrated their belief in DreamWorks and their commitment to being the best
partner we could ask for. Their reinvigorated company is at the top of their
game, and we are proud to be in business with them. This is the best kind of
deal -- and hopefully one that will result in great movies and great success."
DreamWorks principal David Geffen offered, "Ron Meyer has been a close,
personal friend of mine for a long time, and I'm glad to be able to continue
 to be in business together."
Pierre Lescure, co-chief operating officer, Vivendi Universal and chairman

very important to Vivendi Universal's TV and Film division, and will continue
to have great impact on a global scale. I am personally delighted that we
have mutually come to an agreement that continues to be beneficial to these
two extraordinary companies, which have built a distinguished shared history.
We are confident that our collaboration will continue to bring top quality
filmed entertainment to audiences around the world."
The agreement, which was established in June 1995, grants Universal
international theatrical distribution rights to live action and animated
DreamWorks motion pictures, and worldwide home video, as well as music
distribution rights and the rights to utilize characters and concepts created
by DreamWorks in Universal's theme parks.

Universal Studios (www.universalstudios.com) is a part of Canal+, the TV
and Film division of Vivendi Universal, a new global leader in media and
 communications.
