    MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 16 /PRNewswire/ --
Ariba, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARBA), the leading business-to-business (B2B) eCommerce
platform and network services provider, today announced that Nederlandse
Spoorwegen (NS), the Dutch national railway, has selected the Ariba(R)
Buyer(TM) solution, to better manage its commerce and business processes,
reduce costs and improve trading partner relations.
Through Ariba Buyer and the Ariba(R) Commerce Services Network(TM) (Ariba
CSN), NS will be able to improve management of supply and services procurement
throughout its business processes. NS employees will be able to select, order
and receive a range of products and services, including general and technical
services, electronically through existing contracted suppliers. A pilot
implementation is currently underway with NS Reizigers, the largest division
of NS. This will be followed by implementation of Ariba Buyer and the Ariba
ACSN with the other divisions of NS, including NedTrain. Full rollout to NS
Reizigers is expected to be completed in 2002. PriceWaterhouse Coopers N.V.
is implementing the Ariba solution at all NS divisions.
"NS selected Ariba after carefully evaluating solutions from vendors
across Europe, and believes the Ariba solution will best enable NS to reach
its B2B eCommerce objectives," said Gijs van Rooijen, programme manager for
F@st Tr@ck, the NS eProcurement project. "Through Ariba Buyer, we will
streamline internal processes, increase operational excellence and trim
 costs," van Rooijen added.
"The addition of Nederlandse Spoorwegen to our client list is a clear sign
that B2B eCommerce is not just for multinational companies," said
Arjen Koonings, Country Manager, Benelux, for Ariba. "NS clearly recognizes
the benefits and opportunities of eCommerce and Ariba is committed to deliver
leading-edge solutions to NS that directly impact their bottom line."
