DynamicOps Extends Cloud Automation and Management Platform

Delivers Seamless Integration Between Private and Public Cloud Services, and Expanded Virtual Desktop and Physical Resource Support

Aug 22, 2011, 08:00 ET from DynamicOps

BURLINGTON, Mass., Aug. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- DynamicOps, the only provider of the Operations Virtualization platform enabling unified cloud automation and management, today announced significant enhancements to the award-winning DynamicOps Cloud Automation Center.  The company unveiled new support for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), and expanded support for the physical and virtual resources comprising a cloud infrastructure -- including Cisco UCS, Dell and HP Servers, Citrix XenDesktop 5 and VMware vSphere 5.

"Cloud computing solutions cannot deliver the dramatic agility and cost savings that enterprises need unless they make it easy to integrate their preferred services and systems while ensuring governance.  With our platform expansion announcement, we're giving customers even more flexibility to leverage best-of-breed technologies and seamlessly integrate with public cloud services -- while maintaining strict control over the entire environment," said Les Yetton, CMO of DynamicOps.

DynamicOps Cloud Automation Center's extended support includes:

  • DynamicOps Public Cloud Gateway: Amazon EC2 Support
External Cloud Manager, a module in DynamicOps Cloud Automation Center, enables a company to instantly add the dynamic computing capacity of public clouds to their existing private clouds safely and efficiently by enabling common management for the entire infrastructure.  With today's announcement, customers can now utilize their DynamicOps infrastructure as a public cloud gateway that securely deploys virtual machines in Amazon EC2 via the DynamicOps self-service portal, based on the customer's own unique governance model. Now customers have the ability to embrace the power and flexibility of public cloud while also ensuring a consistent and governed approach to resource consumption -- delivering unified capabilities through a common DynamicOps-based interface even defining budget-based limits on resource usage and generating chargeback and capacity reports.  This facilitates a safe, IT-controlled evolution to public and hybrid clouds.

  • Cisco UCS, Dell and HP Servers through DynamicOps Physical Resource Manager
DynamicOps enables enterprises to support physical resources through the same interface as their virtual infrastructure.   With the DynamicOps Physical Resource Manager module, IT can automate the deployment of hypervisors and add new physical servers to the hypervisor host clusters.  This is critical because even a 100% virtualized enterprise needs to provision and manage the physical host systems for the virtual machines. Physical Resource Manager can also deploy operating systems directly to physical machines for systems that have not been virtualized.  With DynamicOps' enhanced support, enterprises can now discover, provision and manage Cisco UCS servers via Cisco UCS Manager, Dell servers via Dell iDRAC, and HP servers via HP iLo.

  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) in the Cloud with Citrix XenDesktop 5
DynamicOps continues to enhance support for VDI with extended integration for XenDesktop 5, enabling integrated and automated end-to-end control of the virtual desktop lifecycle and making it easy to transform VDI into virtual desktop cloud.

  • VMware vSphere 5
DynamicOps demonstrates its continued commitment to supporting the VMware platform, including the latest vSphere 5.

  • New Image Deployment Options for Operating Systems and Applications
To help customers further protect existing investments, DynamicOps added more options to its already robust alternatives for software deployment, including:
    • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM):   Customers can leverage their existing SCCM environment with virtual and physical machines managed through a DynamicOps-based self-service cloud.  This includes supporting task sequences such as installing operating systems and agents.
    • PXE Boot:  Customers have the option of using PXE to deploy operating systems or applications and can combine it with other tools such as SCCM.
