E-procurement Linking Services Now Available From Swets Blackwell

Apr 03, 2001, 01:00 ET from Swets Blackwell

LISSE, Netherlands, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Swets Blackwell is pleased to
announce the launch yesterday of their e-procurement linking services. This
follows their March 7 announcement of an agreement with IBM to develop web-
based information management products and services. Corporate clients now have
access to Swets Blackwell's online catalog containing 150,000 titles, allowing
them to place orders by linking out from their existing Ariba, SAP or Commerce
 One e-procurement systems.
Swets Blackwell has initiated implementation planning with four major
international corporations, two of which use Commerce One and the other two
Ariba. Simultaneously, they are in final negotiations with a major marketplace
to make the Swets Blackwell catalog available to multiple buyers. Through a
so-called "roundtrip" or "punch-out", clients will be able to combine the
benefits of using their own e-procurement system with the comprehensive
subscription management features that Swets Blackwell offers and which will be
 available as of July 1.
Geert Visscher, CEO of Swets Blackwell, commented: "We are pleased to be
able to bring e-procurement linking services to our corporate clients, whose
purchasers, administrators, approvers and end-users alike all stand to benefit
from the savings in time and costs these services provide. This clearly shows
our strategic commitment and ability to deliver e-procurement solutions to our
clients and confirms our leadership as the global supplier of business and
 professional information."

Swets Blackwell is the largest subscription agent in the world. They have
an annual turnover in excess of US$1 billion and maintain 23 offices in 19
countries across 5 continents. Swets Blackwell works in partnership with
65,000 major suppliers of professional information, and offers complete
solutions for the needs of their 60,000 corporate, academic, research &
development, medical, and government library and information center clients
