Apr 11, 2001, 01:00 ET from Eastern Software

SHARON, Pa., April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Eastern Software Corporation,
national provider of enterprise-wide loan origination system (LOS) Empower!,
will host its annual user group meeting on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 in San
Francisco. The company has hosted Empower! user meetings since the debut of
the system in January 1998. This marks Eastern's fourth year installing
Empower! for the nation's 200 largest lenders.
The focus of the meeting will be to examine changes and enhancements that
will be available in the system's next upgrade, scheduled to be released in
June 2001, as well as discussion about industry issues that lenders must
address, including XML standards and initiatives, and Internet lending.
Further, Eastern will debut its Consumer Lending Engine, marking the
availability of a Financial Relationship Management system for Empower! users.
The Consumer Lending Engine will handle various types of credit, from auto and
boat loans to student college loans and numerous others.
Eastern will also unveil its Middle-Tier solution, Empower.Net. This
system's multi-channel lending operations allow lenders to offer retail and
correspondent loan officers, and consumers, the ability to log onto the
database through a secure connection as a user or guest. The Internet-based
system is MERS(R)-enabled, offers all interfaces developed in the traditional
Empower! LOS, as well as all rules and script routines available in the
 enterprise-wide application.
"To ensure the success of Empower! and Eastern Software as a company, it
is very important that we understand what our lending partners want from their
LOS solution," President and CEO of Eastern Software, Joseph Delaney said.
"We believe one of the better ways to do this is to hold regular meetings
where everyone who uses Empower! can come together and discuss openly any
issues that need to be addressed. Continual review of any system is paramount
to its success, and this meeting allows system users from different
organizations to voice their opinions and get feedback from fellow Empower!
Partners, as well as from us as their technology partner. It's very
educational and enlightening, for both Eastern and Empower! Partners."
The session, being held at the Hilton San Francisco Towers, will be
attended exclusively by Empower! users, many of whom are the industry's most
recognized lenders, including Ameriquest Mortgage Corporation, IndyMac Bank,
Equifirst Corporation, BNC Mortgage, E-LOAN, Downey Savings & Loan,
CitiMortgage (sub-prime division), and Accredited Home Lenders.
