The ECTF brings together the best industry thinkers to deliver on a shared
vision in the telecommunications industry to allow for open access to a
diversity of communications products and services. The ECTF is driven to
bring about a shared vision of interoperability in the industry, providing
services to companies at every layer of the Value Chain. The role of the ECTF
is to provide guidance on how to implement telecommunications products and
solutions, and to act as an umbrella group with liaisons to coordinate with
more narrowly focused industry groups in order to provide a consolidated
 industry framework.
"The ECTF is pleased to welcome Mike to the Board of Directors," said
Andrew Hunkins, Chairman of the ECTF Board of Directors. "The ECTF is an
open, democratic organization driven by member contributions. Mike is well
known for his work throughout the industry and for his belief in pursuing
technological innovation that promotes vendor interoperability and accelerated
 technology adoption for end-customers."
"Brooktrout Technology's New Network philosophy is centered around open
systems in networks rather than around semi-proprietary systems and software
models," said Eric Giler, president of Brooktrout, Inc. "Mike will play an
important role at the ECTF to help to develop the standards that will support
interoperability and customer-centric communications flow. Supporting the
ECTF's technologies and standards allows Brooktrout to accelerate product
introduction programs for our partners, and reduces the cost of acquisition
and overall total cost of ownership for end-customers."
Brooktrout Technology continues to play an active role in promoting
standards and interoperability by participating in several standards
organizations and alliances including: ECTF, Internet Engineering Task Force,
European Forum for Electronic Business, IMTC iNOW, National Convergence
Alliance, International Telecommunication Union, and many others.
