Black-and-White Documents

Jan 09, 2001, 00:00 ET from Electronics for Imaging, Inc.

FOSTER CITY, Calif., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Electronics for Imaging, Inc.
(Nasdaq: EFII), the world leader in enabling networked printing solutions,
announced today the availability of its Fiery X3 embedded controller for
 Konica's 7075 black-and-white printer/copier. One of the first Linux-based
controllers to hit the market, the Fiery X3 for Konica's 7075 brings greater
productivity to corporate workgroups, print-for-pay environments, and central
reprographics departments. The controller lists for $5995.00 (copier
interface kit not included) and is available through Konica dealers in North
 America.
The Fiery X3 enhances the Konica 7075 by ensuring fast and seamless
network connectivity, and enhanced workflow through several simple "click and
 print" job management utilities.
"EFI's Fiery X3 is the industry-leading platform for high-speed processing
of black-and-white documents," said Jim Kano, Director of Sales for EFI. "It
has the power to drive the 7075 at its full-rated speed of 75 pages per minute
(ppm). It has complete job management tools, and allows for seamless network
connectivity -- invaluable features for high-volume environments."

     Fiery X3 Controller Features

-- Fiery NetWise(TM) 2 ensures fast, seamless network connectivity,
meeting the plug-and-play connectivity needs of the IS manager.
-- Fiery WebTools(TM) enables users to manage and control their print jobs
remotely, via a Java-enabled web browser. Fiery WebTools include
        WebSpooler(TM) for monitoring jobs as they spool, RIP and print;
WebStatus(TM) for referencing job status and displaying basic job
information; and WebLink(TM) for linking to a specific web page.
-- Fiery DocBuilder(TM) enables users to manipulate previously RIPed jobs.
This means that adding, deleting, or merging pages between RIPed jobs
is easy and does not require the documents to be RIPed again.
DocBuilder incorporates EFI's RIP-While-Print(R) technology, which
increases users' productivity by allowing them to print documents from
start to finish without a pause in printing. DocBuilder also enables
electronic collation, reverse-order printing, and job merging and
editing which allows users to merge pages from different documents, as
well as add, delete, or reorder pages within a document.
-- Fiery Downloader(TM) enables users to send PDF, PostScript and EPS
files directly to the controller without opening the original
application that created the file. Printing PDF, Post-Script and EPS
files with Fiery Downloader is faster than printing these files from
within an application and allows users to batch multiple files for
        unattended printing.
-- Fiery FreeForm(TM) enables users to print variable data projects on the
Konica 7075 by separating the data that does not change from the data
that does. For example, Fiery FreeForm can be used to make the
processing of Microsoft PowerPoint presentations faster by separating
the master slide background from the text on each page.
