Integration Between Software Products Enables Media Archive

Management Solution

Apr 18, 2001, 01:00 ET from eMotion, Inc.

VIENNA, Va., and SOUTHAMPTON, U.K., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- eMotion,
Inc., the global leader in digital media management (DMM) solutions, and
Software Generation, Ltd (SGL), the leading developer of industry specific
data management solutions, today announced that they will integrate their
 software packages, eMotion's MediaPartner(TM) 4.0 and SGL's FlashNet.
The integration will allow the users to use eMotion's sophisticated tools
for search and retrieval and SGL's heterogeneous network environment with
standard network protocols to find assets across all types of online, nearline
 and offline storage.
MediaPartner 4.0 is eMotion's 100 percent Web-based DMM application that
combines the accessibility of browser technology with six years of experience
in the management of high-resolution film, television and photographic assets
within a collaborative workflow environment. FlashNet is a suite of layered
software modules designed to facilitate the backup, archive and restore of
data in a heterogeneous network environment with specific solutions for
digital asset management in print, publishing, broadcast video and other
 imaging related markets.
Potential users of DMM solutions have thousands of digital media assets
stored across various devices on their network whether that be hard disk,
floppy disk or traditional tape storage. Although these assets are stored in
a format that will preserve them, users are increasingly struggling to find
these assets in a timely manner.
FlashNet's unique and robust index database architecture ensures that fast
data search and retrieval times are maintained as near online data sets grow.
FlashNet delivers unrivalled scalability and data retrieval speeds on large
 image-intensive data sets.
Bernie Walsh, director of sales and marketing at SGL said, "Our ability to
effectively store and retrieve digital assets is significantly enhanced by a
true DMM solution like MediaPartner 4.0. The ability to see a visual
representation of that content and the ability to use sophisticated search and
collaboration tools from eMotion offers massive added value to our currently
 textual based tools."
The integrating of eMotion MediaPartner 4.0 and SGL FlashNet will enable
content owners and providers to realize the full value of their media assets
through the complete asset lifecycle and across every industry from print and
 publishing to high definition broadcasting.
"We are pleased to be the first true DMM company to work with SGL at this
level," said Bob Griffin, president and CEO of eMotion, Inc. "They have
proven to be the industry leader in backup and archive storage management. We
look forward to further developing mutual customer opportunities for both
 companies."
Integrated versions of FlashNet and MediaPartner4.0 will be available in
 May 2001.
