Energy Ventures Inc. Receives Purchase Order For Rechargeable Nickel Zinc Batteries

Apr 19, 2001, 01:00 ET from Energy Ventures Inc.

OTTAWA, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of Energy Ventures
Inc. ("EVI") (OTC Bulletin Board: EGYV) announced today that the company's
Battery Division has initiated a joint development agreement and received a
purchase order to supply proprietary Rechargeable Nickel Zinc batteries for
evaluation in a specific OEM application. The terms of the agreement require
that both the name of the purchaser and the application remain confidential at
 this time.
Through the agreement, EVI has agreed to provide an initial supply of
Rechargeable Nickel Zinc cells to test their use in a new consumer product
that is expected to be launched into the market in 2002. If successful, this
application could consume several million cells per year beginning as early as
 2003.
In addition, both parties have begun negotiations to develop EVI's
proprietary Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) for both Rechargeable Nickel
Zinc/DMFC hybrid and specific DMFC power sources for the same application.
EVI believes that its proprietary technologies will effectively provide the
necessary power specifications for this and many other applications. The
recent agreement with SRE Controls Inc. will enable these technologies to be
scaled up or down to meet various product/application specifications.
Mr. David Trudel, President of EVI's Battery Division, stated, "We believe
this is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the efficiency and economic
value of our proprietary Rechargeable Nickel Zinc technology and begin the
commercialization of this battery format. We also expect to develop a long
standing relationship with this company as they globally market unique
applications that will lead to the use of further EVI technologies, namely our
 DMFC technology".
