RICHARDSON, Texas, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Printed with Enhanced Black
Ink, a Hi-Fi JET PRO reproduction of a Vincent Versace digital photo recently
took Best in Category for Fine Art at the DPI Andre Schellenberg Competition.
The award was presented at the annual DPI Conference, held April 5-7, 2001 in
 Atlanta.
Entitled "Flowers Are Nature's Way of Laughing," the image was printed on
Roland Provence Rag Fine Art Paper using Roland pigment inks (CMYOGLcLm) and
enhanced black ink to achieve the dark, rich tones and delicate textures of
 the blooming orchids.
Introduced by Ahearn & Soper, Nidi Technologies and Splash of Color,
Enhanced Black Ink was developed by American Ink Jet for Roland Hi-Fi JET
printers and CAMMJET printer/cutters. It was specifically designed for use
with Roland standard pigment inks and formulated for optimal results on Roland
fine art media, including the popular Concorde Rag Fine Art Paper and new
 Provence Rag Fine Art Paper.
This vivid black ink enhances the entire color gamut and depth-of-field of
black and white photographs. It has been developed using proven technology
and provides excellent longevity when combined with Roland's pigment ink set.
"I love this ink," said Vincent Versace, a recipient of a Smithsonian Award
for innovation in digital photography. "This is the first time I have ever
seen a pigment print have the depth and color of a dye ink print. I'm blown
 away."
The ink is packaged in 220ml cartridges as a convenient alternative to
messy bulk ink systems. The cartridges insert easily into the Hi-Fi JET or
CAMMJET to provide an airtight, clean seal to the ink delivery system. This
eliminates the mess of refilling cartridge containers and keeps debris out of
the ink delivery system and the print heads. Ink cartridges are self-sealing
and can be removed and reinserted later. Enhanced Black ink has a list price
 of $99.99.
