Environmental Safeguards Subsidiary Continues Work in Mexico

Apr 11, 2001, 01:00 ET from Environmental Safeguards, Inc.

HOUSTON, April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Environmental Safeguards, Inc.
(Amex: EVV) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, OST Equipment
Leasing LLC, has contracted with Residuos Industriales Multiquim S.A. de C.V
(RIMSA) to send two indirect thermal desorption ("ITD") Units to RIMSA's
facility in Villahermosa, Mexico to perform soil remediation and hydrocarbon
 recycling services.
James S. Percell, chairman and CEO of Environmental Safeguards stated:
"This contract continues our presence in the growing Mexican market and our
successful past relationship with RIMSA." He noted that an EVV subsidiary has
operated with two of its ITD units at the RIMSA facility since February, 2000
and pointed out that "the new contract provides for the same number of units
at that location for a minimum one-year term."
Environmental Safeguards uses its proprietary ITD technology and its
patented mobile ITD System 6000 to vaporize hydrocarbons from contaminated
soil and liquefy the vapor into reusable liquids. The system utilizes a heat
jacketed rotating chamber that vaporizes hydrocarbons from contaminated soil
and drill cuttings, and a condenser that liquefies the vapor into hydrocarbon
liquids for reuse. A single ITD unit can process one to ten metric tons of
waste per hour with up to 30% oil saturation, discharging dry, inert soil that
is returnable to the environment without latent liability or that can be used
in making bricks, building roads, or as a landfill ground cover.
Environmental Safeguards, operating with its own trained personnel through
wholly or partially owned subsidiaries, has performed soil remediation and
hydrocarbon recycling services in Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Scotland the
United Arab Emirates and the United States. In the four years since the ITD
System 6000 became fully operational, the Company has processed over 550,000
metric tons of contaminated soil and recovered more than 13.7 million gallons
 of hydrocarbon liquids.
The Forward Looking Statement or Projections contained herewith involve
risk and uncertainties which could cause actual results or outcomes to differ
materially from those expressed, and accordingly should be read in conjunction
with the Company's 10K for the year ending December 31, 2000 with particular
reference to Information Regarding and Factors Affecting Forward Looking
Statements in the Management Discussion and Analysis of Financial Condition
 and Results of Operations.
