Equator Announces Shark MAP-CA(TM) Development Board and iMMediaTools(TM) Software Toolkit Version 5.2

Dec 18, 2000, 00:00 ET from Equator Technologies, Inc.

CAMPBELL, Calif., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Equator Technologies, Inc., the
leading provider of solutions for programmable broadband signal processing,
today announced the availability of its Shark MAP-CA Development Board and the
iMMediaTools Software Toolkit, version 5.2. The development board and software
toolkit together provide a powerful and flexible evaluation and development
platform for prototyping broadband video, voice, and data products based on
 Equator's MAP-CA Broadband Signal Processor(TM) (BSP(TM)).
The Shark MAP-CA Development Board is a PCI card based on the MAP-CA BSP,
and is configured for use in a host PC running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or Red
Hat Linux 6.2. Shark provides extensive support for real-time I/O interfaces,
including NTSC video I/O (both S-Video and Composite), RGB output, and I2S
stereo audio I/O. Further expansion can be provided via daughter cards.
The iMMediaTools Software Toolkit includes Equator's highly optimized
iMMediaC compiler, based on the company's extensive experience in VLIW
compiler technology. The iMMediaC compiler allows designers to program
broadband signal processing applications 100 percent in C-language. With other
processors, media programs must be written entirely or partially in
time-consuming low-level assembly language; software written in this manner is
expensive and time-consuming to develop and difficult to maintain. The toolkit
also includes the FIRtree(TM) Media Intrinsic C-language extensions, source-
level debugger, cycle-accurate simulator, linker, and libraries.
"The Shark MAP-CA Development Board and iMMediaTools Software Toolkit
together provide a feature-rich, high performance platform for the development
of MAP-CA-based products," said Stephen L. Diamond, Vice President of
Marketing at Equator. "The iMMediaC compiler is the world's most efficient
compiler for broadband applications. With this platform, customers can quickly
and efficiently develop high-performance volume broadband appliance products."
The Shark Development Board is priced at $4,000 and the iMMediaTools
Software Toolkit Version 5.2 is priced at $15,000 per seat. Both products are
 available immediately.
