Ericsson Joins Open Source Development Lab (OSDL)

Telecommunications Leader Joins 21 Others Aligned to Guide Linux Development

    BEAVERTON, Ore., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Open Source Development Lab (OSDL)
 today announced that telecommunications industry leader Ericsson has been
 added to its roster of members aligned to guide Linux development for the
 telecommunications market segment.  Ericsson will participate in the OSDL
 Carrier Grade Linux Working Group established earlier this year.  Together,
 OSDL industry leaders and open source community members are developing feature
 roadmaps to enable Linux for the telecommunications and enterprise market
 segments.

     Ericsson joins other industry leaders in the Carrier Grade Linux Working
 Group, including Alcatel, Cisco, Hewlett-Packard Company, IBM, Intel,
 MontaVista Software, Nokia, Red Hat and SuSE.  The working group, in
 conjunction with the open source community, is working on collecting
 requirements and specifying the architecture of the Carrier Grade Linux
 platform.  The working group also encourages the development of commercial and
 open standard components on top of Linux to implement the required
 functionality of the platform.  The main working areas include service
 availability, architecture, validation and requirements.
