Brightmail Blocked 48 Percent More Spam Than Closest Competitor

Apr 04, 2001, 01:00 ET from Brightmail, Inc.

SAN FRANCISCO, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- eTesting Labs Inc., a Ziff Davis
Media company (formerly ZD Labs), recently tested the effectiveness of four
commercially available and two proprietary spam-filtering solutions.
Of the six solutions tested, the Brightmail Anti-Spam Solution came in
first, blocking over 93 percent of spam and zero percent of legitimate mail.
The nearest commercially available runner-up blocked only 20 percent, while
the least effective product blocked almost as much legitimate mail as it did
spam. The two proprietary solutions tested were 64 percent and 28 percent
 effective.
"We're thrilled that the leader in Internet technology and testing found
our Anti-Spam Solution to be far and away the most effective at stopping spam
of the systems they tested," said Gary Hermansen, Brightmail's CEO. "Their
findings confirm what our internal metrics and growing list of customers have
told us. In addition, our BLOC technicians are literally working around the
clock to refine our patented process for filtering out unwanted messages."
