FASTNET to Design Cambridge Search Web Site, Create New On-Line Resume Management Application as Application Service Provider (ASP)

Apr 26, 2001, 01:00 ET from FASTNET Corporation

    BETHLEHEM, Pa., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- FASTNET(R) Corporation
(Nasdaq: FSST), a leading business Internet solutions, web and applications
developer and colocation provider, announced today that it has contracted with
Cambridge Search of Allentown, PA, to create an on-line system to simplify and
improve the input, storage and retrieval of job candidate information.
FASTNET will deliver the application to Cambridge as an Application Service
 Provider (ASP).
Steve Hurly, FASTNET President and CEO, states, "Our contract with
Cambridge demonstrates FASTNET leveraging its varied skills and continuing to
deliver on our core business model as an Internet solutions provider. We seek
to partner with our customers and assist them both establishing and expanding
their Internet presence. Our future success will rely on our ability to
deliver a full suite of enhanced products and services to our customers, which
we believe will help us maintain long-term relationships and continue to
increase our average revenue per customer."
"We are very excited about this project and the time savings that this
application will provide. In our business, we expend tremendous amounts of
labor inputting, storing and retrieving data. This application will enable us
to better service our clients while simultaneously reducing expenses," states
Kurt Wenger, President of Cambridge Search.
Derek Storm, Director of Web Services for FASTNET adds, "This is a great
example of the real value of the Internet technologies. Many companies are
focused only on the ability of the Internet to deliver corporate information
and to increase sales. While this is an important aspect of the technology,
it can also reduce a company's overhead and improve interactions with
customers, which are also important to the bottom line.
"When Cambridge Search approached us to redesign their web site, we took
the time and initiative to truly understand how they interacted with their
customers and how their data flowed through their organization. With this
in-depth understanding of their process, we were able to match Cambridge's
needs with a library of process modules that we had already developed. By
modifying these modules, we were able to affect a significant cost savings for
Cambridge, compared to the time and expense that would have been required to
build the entire application from scratch," stated Derek Storm.
The new resume management system FASTNET is creating will allow job
candidates to add, edit or delete their contact information, job skills and
resume, and allow them to apply for jobs that Cambridge has posted on-line.
Cambridge Search's staff will be able to administer the system utilizing a
custom browser-based interface to perform functions such as add, edit or
delete job classifications and associated skills, set resume record expiration
periods and add, edit or delete online job postings. "We have used the large
commercial job database engines in the past, however, they are expensive and,
because they are so large, we found the search results we were getting were
not that accurate. Having our own system will save us money over the long term
and allow us to service clients and job candidates in our market area more
 efficiently," Kurt Wenger said.
Kurt Wenger added, "By utilizing FASTNET as an Application Service
Provider (ASP) we can cost effectively-outsource the hosting, maintenance and
management of the application, allowing us to concentrate on running our
 business."

     About FASTNET Corporation
During the past six years, the FASTNET(R) has been providing Internet
solutions to a growing number of customers located in secondary markets in the
