World's Premier Telecommunications Carrier Hotel

Enhances Access & Assures Future Scalability

Apr 03, 2001, 01:00 ET from FiberNet Telecom Group, Inc.

    NEW YORK, April 3 /PRNewswire/ --
FiberNet Telecom Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: FTGX), a leading provider of
metropolitan optical connectivity, today announced that the Company has been
selected to build and operate the Meet-Me-Room at 60 Hudson Street in New York
City. 60 Hudson Street is the preeminent telecommunications carrier hotel,
serving as a hub and interconnection point among international and domestic
voice and data carriers. The 15,000 square foot Meet-Me-Room will allow for
the seamless cross-connection of networking equipment and communications
traffic between carriers in a centralized facility, offering enhanced
accessibility to both existing and future carrier tenants of the building.
"The 'Meet-Me-Room' increases the value of 60 Hudson Street to the real
estate and carrier communities by creating a state-of-the-art facility that
provides seamless access to all carriers and technologies," noted Michael
Liss, FiberNet's president and CEO. "All carriers that enter or depart
60 Hudson Street will now benefit by having access to the Meet-Me-Room
infrastructure in order to connect their own networks or interconnect with
other carriers. The Management of 60 Hudson had the vision to position their
building to meet the growing demand for bandwidth. We see the 60 Hudson
Street Meet-Me-Room as a vital piece of the total last-mile solution FiberNet
offers in eliminating the metropolitan bottleneck."
"We chose FiberNet because of its ability to design, construct, manage and
operate the most complex and sophisticated telecommunications networks," said
Robert Getreu, senior managing director of GVA Williams Real Estate Company,
which manages 60 Hudson Street. "Because FiberNet is a carrier-neutral
company, existing and future tenants will have unlimited access to the
ever-growing demand for bandwidth in 60 Hudson Street's facility."
"Though almost every national and international carrier has a presence at
or near 60 Hudson Street, currently there is no single point in the building
where all carriers intersect," continued Mr. Liss. "Management's decision to
select FiberNet is a strong endorsement of our service model, technological
capabilities and ability to bring next-generation optical connectivity to all
 carriers."
