Financial-Sector Fund Joins the Nations Funds Family

Apr 10, 2001, 01:00 ET from Banc of America Advisors, LLC

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Nations Funds today announced
the addition of Nations Financial Services Fund to its $117 billion mutual
fund family. Nations Financial Services Fund, advised by Banc of America
Advisors, LLC and subadvised by Banc of America Capital Management, LLC is a
growth fund that invests primarily in equity securities of U.S. and foreign
companies principally engaged in the financial services industry.
"Nations Funds is pleased to offer as its first sector fund the Nations
Financial Services Fund," said Rob Gordon, president of Banc of America
Advisors, LLC. "Investors with well-diversified portfolios who are seeking to
capitalize on the growth potential of the financial services sector may want
to consider this Fund. The Fund provides investors with exposure to companies
that provide financial services to consumers and businesses -- including
banking, asset management, insurance, brokerage and transactions-processing
 companies, among others."
The Nations Financial Services Fund will be managed by the Banc of America
Capital Management, LLC Growth Strategies Team, led by John Zimmerman, CFA.
Zimmerman has more than 14 years of experience in the investment management
industry. As a financial services analyst he was named "Best of the Buy Side"
 by Institutional Investor, a non-affiliated publication, in 1994 (a
prestigious award given every three years). Drawing on his analyst
background, he has expanded his area of expertise and broadened his
responsibilities to include managing the entire growth strategies group at
Banc of America Capital Management, LLC.
"We believe that current economic conditions and reasonable stock
valuations, combined with favorable population demographics and global
financial trends, could provide a strong basis for significant appreciation
opportunities in this sector," said Zimmerman. "The fund, with 40 to 60
securities, is expected to be an all-capitalization growth fund, but will
focus mainly on mid- and large-capitalization companies. It expects to use a
disciplined investment approach for identifying stocks by evaluating a
company's relative competitive position in the industry -- identifying
companies with favorable long-term growth potential, competitive advantages
 and sensible business strategies."
Nations Funds is a family of more than 70 mutual funds. Only Nations
Funds offers investors access to Managers of Distinction(SM) -- a carefully
