First Annual Great Lakes Builders Show Coming To Ford Field
Trade show will be premier home builders showcase in the Midwest
DETROIT, Oct. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Home Builders Association of Michigan announced today that registration is now open for the first ever Great Lakes Builders Show. The event will be held March 4-6, 2015, at Ford Field in Detroit and will feature exhibits on the latest industry products, educational sessions and demonstrations on everything from safety and code compliance to financing solutions, green building practices and how to find skilled workers.
The last large-scale building industry show in the region took place in Chicago more than five years ago, but ended due to the economic downturn.
"The Midwest has been lacking a first-class home builders trade show, so we plan on making the Great Lakes Builders Show the premier show for the residential building industry," said Home Builders Association of Michigan CEO Bob Filka. "And what better place to have a builders show than Detroit? The city is turning itself around and rebuilding from the ground up, just like the building sector has had to do following the Great Recession. Home builders are on the rebound and so is Detroit."
The event is expected to attract 3,000 to 4,000 home builders, contractors, remodelers and other industry professionals. National Association of Home Builders Chief Economist David Crowe will deliver one of several keynote addresses planned for the show.
"Since no one else has stepped up, we're saying, 'Move over Chicago'," said Mike Flory, a Lansing, Mich. - area builder and the show's planning committee chair. "The Home Builders Association of Michigan is ready to bring the type of show our industry needs to take it to the next level. While many in the building industry have turned to online buying, it's still all about feeling, touching and talking to your suppliers in this industry. We're creating an event that builders, contractors and other industry professionals throughout the region will see as a 'must attend' annual gathering."
