If buying your first home makes you wax poetic, here's a good reason to rhyme: you could land up to $4,000 in prizes if you submit the winning entry in time.
Now through October 31, American Home Shield (AHS) is asking first-time home buyers to describe their experience in an online limerick contest on the popular social networking site, Twitter.
The writer of the winning "Twitterick" (as the limericks are called) will receive a housewarming prize package to help them get settled in nicely: a $3,000 Sears gift card, an American Home Shield home warranty, and a $500 ServiceMaster gift card (redeemable for home service brands such as Terminix, TruGreen, Merry Maids, Furniture Medic and more).

The contest is available by going to www.FirstHomeExperience.com, the AHS website dedicated to all first-time homebuyers, whether they're looking for their first home or if they've just moved in. A custom-written guide, house-hunting tips, money-saving coupons, important information about tax credits, and advice about avoiding the high cost of unexpected repairs with home warranty coverage are all available on the website.
What if rhyming just isn't your thing? Are you left in the cold, without a prize to hold?
Not necessarily, according to the team at AHS, who have also put together a weekly Twitter contest with no rhyming skills required. Simply go online to the website and update your Twitter status with a specific message and you'll be eligible for a weekly random drawing for a $100 Sears gift card. No purchase is necessary but you must be at least 18 years old to win.
