First Union Cycling Series Gears Up for America's Biggest Cycling Race

    PHILADELPHIA, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's top cycling teams return
 to the Delaware Valley June 5-10 to compete in the First Union Cycling Series,
 concluding with the First Union USPRO Championship and the First Union Liberty
 Classic, June 10 in Philadelphia.  This year's events boast a record prize
 purse of $220,000 and are expected to draw crowds in excess of 750,000.
     Competition will again be fierce.  Petra Rossner is looking to claim her
 unprecedented fourth-straight First Union Liberty Classic championship, while
 2000 champion Australian Henk Vogels will be looking to do what no other rider
 has done since 1985 -- win two First Union USPRO Championships.
     "The First Union Cycling Series is the biggest event on the Pro Cycling
 Tour calendar," said Tour Director Robin Morton.  The Pro Cycling Tour,
 formerly the USPRO Cycling Tour, links 14 cycling events across the country.

 welcome these events with a family-friendly Lifestyles & Fitness Expo
 featuring over 50 vendors, as well as interactive activities geared to cycling
 aficionados and those new to the sport.
