Fluor Selected by Petrogal to Build Desulfurization Plant in Portugal

    ALISO VIEJO, Calif., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluor Daniel, the
 engineering and construction unit of Fluor Corporation (NYSE:   FLR), today
 announced that it has been awarded a $23 million (EUR) contract for the
 engineering, procurement and construction of a hydrogen desulfurization
 facility in Portugal.
     Awarded by Petrogal, the contract represents Fluor's first lump-sum
 turnkey job in Portugal, as well as its first time working with Petrogal, the
 only oil refining company based in Portugal.
     The plant is required to further desulfurize gasoline in order to comply
 with new European Union regulations and is part of a large upgrading plan at
 Petrogal's Sines Refinery, one of the most competitive and modern of its kind
 in Europe, according to officials.
     Engineering for the project began in November 2000, with construction
 commencing March 2001.  Estimated completion is slated for first quarter 2002.
     Petrogal was created following the nationalization of Portugal's oil
 industry in 1975 and the subsequent merger of four oil companies: Sonap,
 Sacor, Cidla and Petrosul.  Petrogal is based in Lisbon, Portugal and is owned
 by Galp Energia shareholders.
