Foxhunt Staffing, Inc. Names David W. Reed as Director of the Company's New Northern California Regional Office

Agency Is Bringing Contract Technical Staffing Expertise to 'Telecom Valley'

Apr 03, 2001, 01:00 ET from Foxhunt Staffing, Inc.

PETALUMA, Calif., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Foxhunt Staffing, Inc., a
leading provider of contract and long-term technical staffing and executive
recruiting services, today announced the appointment of David W. Reed as
director of Foxhunt Staffing's new Northern California regional office in the
 heart of "Telecom Valley."
Sonoma and Marin Counties have witnessed explosive high tech growth in
recent years. Nearly 70 firms engaged in various aspects of the
telecommunications industry have located in and around Novato, Petaluma,
Rohnert Park, and Santa Rosa. Today Reed is working at temporary facilities in
Healdsburg, however, Foxhunt Staffing plans to open a permanent office in the
Petaluma area in the very near future. Meanwhile, Reed has already been
engaged by North Bay firms for permanent and contract staffing searches.
"David has more than a decade of professional experience in the high tech
world and as a staffing manager and we believe he is the right person for this
new post," said Mary Voss, president, CEO and founder of Foxhunt Staffing,
Inc. "We know there are many firms who want highly skilled personnel for a
variety of short term (less than a year) project work as well as for the long
term. David is well qualified in both areas."
While contract technical staffing is a common practice in Silicon Valley,
it is almost a foreign concept north of San Francisco where employers have
focused mostly on contingency hiring. "David is helping us extend Foxhunt
Staffing's reputation for supplying contract as well as permanent technical
professionals to hundreds of firms in the lower San Francisco Bay Area to
include Sonoma and Marin Counties," said Voss.
Reed, a resident of Healdsburg, worked in the manufacturing field for
several companies during the 1990s, including Silicon Graphics (SGI). It was
at SGI where Reed moved into the staffing field as a technical recruiter and
helped design Web-based tools for SGI's staffing function. Most recently Reed
served as a workforce management consultant and corporate staffing manager
with Icarian, Inc. of Sunnyvale, Calif., where he helped grow the company to
over 250 employees and contractors in less than a year.
"Foxhunt Staffing does not charge up front fees and we place contract
hires in positions for a minimum of three months," Reed added. "A good number
of these short-term contracts are extended to five or six months -- some as
long as nine. The benefit of the contract approach for the company hiring them
is that these workers are really on the Foxhunt Staffing payroll and we handle
their benefits eligibility. A major percentage of our contract hires move to
permanent status with the same companies."
Reed said that today some firms have a hiring freeze, but others are
actively recruiting. When there are force reductions, the HR and staffing
positions can be the first to go. Then, when the business climate improves,
these positions are often the first to be filled. Foxhunt offers its customers
the ability to ramp up quickly. "We can provide on-site recruiters on very
short notice without a significant impact on a client's overhead expense," he
 added.
