BURLINGTON, Mass., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Framework Technologies
Corporation, a leader in collaborative commerce software, today announced the
results of an in-depth return on investment (ROI) study. The study, conducted
by the Hurwitz Group on Framework's behalf, measured the impact of
ActiveProject, Framework's collaborative product development software, on
product lifecycle management at leading discrete manufacturers. Increased
speed-to-market, shorter product life cycles, and rapid investment payback,
top the list of customer benefits reported by Hurwitz.
Based on a series of in-depth interviews with engineering and product
development managers, Hurwitz reports that, via ActiveProject, respondents
have reduced time to market by as much as 20%, product development cycles up
to 22%, and project delays by as much as 25%. Hurwitz also found that
respondent companies have simultaneously reduced costly engineering changes
and rework and improved first article production up to 75%.
On the broader value and supply chain fronts, ActiveProject, according to
respondents, has been instrumental in driving communication and collaboration
among internal product development teams, supply chain partners, outsource
design teams and customers. Internal departments have become involved in the
product development process 25% earlier and suppliers 2 to 3 months sooner.
"The results of this Hurwitz Group study are extremely significant," said
Carol Baroudi, Director, Electronic Business Strategies for Hurwitz Group.
"We believe that for manufacturing organizations, getting better products to
market faster and cheaper will have an extremely positive impact on the bottom
line. This study clearly shows that a collaborative commerce solution such as
ActiveProject can be a critical component in effecting the kind of changes
needed to really actualize the dramatic efficiencies promised by e-commerce."

     A Collaborative Product Commerce Solution
A leading specialty product manufacturer who participated in the Hurwitz
survey has experienced tremendous impact on communication and collaboration
across the value chain -- recouping its investment in ActiveProject, they
estimate, in less than six months. The implementation of ActiveProject, they
told Hurwitz, has resulted in a significant increase in collaboration between
the company and their external partners -- allowing them to integrate their
suppliers into the product design process.
By enabling the product development team to work in parallel from three
variations of the same product development idea, ActiveProject has
simultaneously increased innovation, while reducing costs. The software,
believes the company, enabled them to deliver one of their newest product
lines to market 4 to 6 months early, driving market share and revenue.
Similarly, a leading telecommunications equipment provider has, with
ActiveProject, reduced the average overall length of its the product
development cycle by 22%. At the same time, Hurwitz found, critical product
information is now in the hands of the sales force at a much earlier date.
Thus, the company is able to begin selling the product even before it's
 available, fueling revenue.
