France's Decathlon Selects UGS as its Exclusive Supplier of Product Content Management Software with Contract for 125 Licenses of i-Man

Apr 05, 2001, 01:00 ET from UGS

CYPRESS, Calif., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- UGS (NYSE: UGS) today announces a
software and services contract with Decathlon -- a French manufacturer and
distributor of sports equipment and apparel -- for the supply and
implementation of 125 licenses of i-Man, UGS' internet-centric software
product used to manage product content for collaborative commerce (c-
 commerce).
Decathlon selected UGS as its exclusive PDM vendor after a comprehensive
six-month evaluation of the industry's leading solutions. The decision was
based on several criteria, including function, track record and corporate
 vision.
"Before Decathlon launched this project, we conducted a thorough study of
our needs," says Nicolas Roucou, Decathlon's Research and Development manager
of the range products, Passions. "After the evaluation, we identified
multiple reasons for our selection of i-Man. It was apparent that i-Man's
technology had been proven in the real world and our tests confirmed that it
would cover all of the company's functional requirements. Our meetings with
customers, such as General Motors, further validated this finding. In
addition, Decathlon is impressed with UGS' long-term strategy for i-Man and
 its evolution towards c-commerce."
"This contract represents an important investment of time and resources by
Decathlon and is further confirmation of the success of i-Man on a global
level," says Arie van Essen, UGS' managing director of France/Benelux.
"Decathlon is a very demanding organization and UGS is committed to working
hard to ensure a successful partnership."
