Franklin Electronic Publishers, Inc. (NYSE: FEP), the leading worldwide
provider of handheld eBooks, today announced the appointment of Elizabeth
Mackey as Vice President of Content. A recognized pioneer in the eBook
industry, Mackey will be responsible for ensuring that Franklin's entire line
of handheld electronic books, including its award winning eBookMan(R) line, is
supported by the finest collection of popular books, magazines, newspapers and

and other programs to support the sale of content to eBookMan users and
various other programs to support publisher and author relations.
"Elizabeth has been a key player in virtually every major publishing

first simultaneous release of an electronic and hardcover edition of a major
bestseller," said Barry Lipsky, president and chief executive officer of
Franklin. "Elizabeth has also been instrumental in developing the market for
full electronic editions of popular newspapers and magazines like Time,
Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, and Business Week. We are confident that
Elizabeth's proven knowledge and expertise in publishing and new media will
supercharge our efforts to establish the largest and most useful content
library for eBookMan, the best positioned and most widely distributed eBook
handheld in the market today. Elizabeth will no doubt create many more
milestones for the industry and for Franklin."
Prior to joining Franklin, Mackey served as vice president of content for
Softbook Press, an early eBook pioneer and now a wholly owned subsidiary of
Gemstar TV Guide International, where she was responsible for content
acquisition including trade books, periodicals and original electronic
publications. She has also held prior positions as Vice President of The
Robbins Office, Editorial Director of Simon & Schuster Interactive, and
