Frontier Oil Resumes Full Production Following Successful Turnaround

Apr 16, 2001, 01:00 ET from Frontier Oil Corporation

HOUSTON, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Frontier Oil Corporation (NYSE: FTO)
announced that the major turnaround, or planned maintenance, on the Fluid
Catalytic Cracking Unit, the Gas Oil Hydrotreater and eight other units at its
110,000 barrel-per-day refinery in El Dorado, Kansas was successfully
completed. This past weekend, the units were returned to production and rates
were increased. The turnaround commenced in mid-March and was completed on
 schedule and under budget.
Dan McCormick, Vice President of Refining and Refinery Manager at El
Dorado complimented the effort, saying, "Our employees and contractors are to
be commended for a well-planned and well-executed turnaround of these key
gasoline manufacturing units at our large, mid-continent facility. Their
performance allowed this extensive task to be completed on time and under
 budget."
Major turnarounds of this scale are typically performed every three or
four years. During the turnaround, the El Dorado Refinery's production was
curtailed. The Company intends to operate the El Dorado Refinery at its
maximum capacity throughout the summer driving season.
In addition to the El Dorado Refinery, Frontier operates a 41,000 barrel-
per-day refinery located in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and markets its refined
products principally along the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains and in
other neighboring plains states. Frontier's common shares are listed on the
New York Stock Exchange. Information about the Company may be found on its
