Fulton Financial Corporation Announces Stock Dividend and Increase in Cash Dividend

    LANCASTER, Pa., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- At its Annual Shareholders'
 Meeting and Luncheon, Fulton Financial Corporation (Nasdaq:   FULT) Chairman and
 Chief Executive Officer Rufus A. Fulton, Jr. today announced that its board of
 directors had authorized a five percent stock dividend in addition to an
 increase in the quarterly cash dividend.  That means for every 20 shares of
 Fulton Financial stock owned, an additional share will be received.  The stock
 dividend will be payable on May 25 to shareholders of record at the close of
 business on May 2.  The regular cash dividend, which will increase to 17 cents
 per share, will be payable on July 15 to shareholders of record as of June 15.
     A shareholder currently owning 100 shares of Fulton Financial stock and
 receiving a quarterly cash dividend of 16 cents per share, or a total of
 $16.00 will, after the actions outlined above take effect, own 105 shares of
 stock, and receive a quarterly cash dividend of 17 cents per share, or a total
 of $17.85, an increase of 11.6  percent.
