Apr 24, 2001, 01:00 ET from FutureTV

LAS VEGAS, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- FutureTV, the leading developer of
software solutions for the interactive television industry today launches its
MediaCore Service Platform at the NAB2001 exhibition in Las Vegas. MediaCore
is a set of server-based software technologies that allows broadband Service
Providers to create a compelling and truly complete Service Offering for its
subscribers. MediaCore represents FutureTV's five years of experience in
developing interactive media services, delivered in a fully customisable
package that is immediately accessible to operators.
MediaCore enables Service Providers to integrate all forms of broadband
media service, including VOD, nVOD, broadcast, cable TV, T-commerce, voice and
Internet access, into a single coherent offering. It provides extensive
personalisation features, allowing Service Providers to target content and
advertising to subscribers on a one-to-one basis, and reducing subscriber
"churn." MediaCore also provides a sophisticated billing model enabling
Service Providers to tap every revenue opportunity available.

Ricky Rand, CEO of FutureTV said:
"MediaCore allows Service Providers to build and operate the services that
the market has been talking about for all these years. The network is being
rolled out, the video servers and client devices exist, the economics are
right, and now FutureTV is providing a software Service Platform to tie it all
 together."
MediaCore uses an open-standards approach to ensure that a future-proofed
service can be built that can survive changes in client or server devices.
MediaCore is also highly scalable, using best-of-breed enterprise
technologies, ensuring that a quality service can be rolled out to unlimited
 numbers of subscribers.

Paul Clark, CTO of FutureTV, said:
"This is all about time-to-market, quality and forward planning. Service
Providers need a stable, future-proof, device-independent platform to build
their services on, which will save them having to start again every time a new
device appears, whenever they want to add a new service, or when they need to
scale to full rollout. MediaCore enables operators to move beyond the
perpetual cycle of prototyping, trial, re-engineering and re-trial by
abstracting the true nature of the service from the specifics of individual
 clients and servers."
MediaCore runs on industry standard server hardware and dynamically
creates service pages from a powerful, scalable data model. These pages can
be created for any number of different client devices from the same core data.
MediaCore also includes a full application suite for content metadata capture,
rights and asset management, subscriber provisioning and service
 configuration.
