Gadzooks Announces Several Key Promotions

    DALLAS, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Gadzooks, Inc. (Nasdaq: GADZ) today
 announced the promotions of three key executives, Paula Masters, James
 Wimpress and George Sotirin.  All promotions were effective March 25, 2001.
     Paula Masters, who joined Gadzooks in January 1999, has been promoted to
 president and chief merchandising officer.  Ms. Masters most recently served
 as senior vice president and general merchandising manager.  Prior to joining
 the company, Masters served as vice president and divisional merchandise
 manager for Elder-Beerman, a department store chain based in Dayton, Ohio.
 She began her career in the apparel retailing business with Margo's, a Dallas-
 based retailer of sportswear, dresses, outerwear and accessories, where she
 served in a number of capacities that included senior vice president and
 general merchandise manager.
     James Wimpress, Jr. has been promoted to executive vice president of
 operations.  Mr. Wimpress has served as senior vice president of store
 operations since joining Gadzooks in January 1998.  In his new role, he will
 oversee store operations, real estate, human resources, loss prevention and
 distribution.  During his tenure at Gadzooks, Wimpress has been instrumental
 in building a successful field organization and home office staff that
 supports our current store base and future expansion plans.
     George Sotirin has been promoted to vice president - store operations from
 director of store operations, a position he has held since joining Gadzooks in
 January 1998.  Mr. Sotirin has over 22 years of experience in the retail
 business including director positions with Styles for Less, Charlotte Russe
 and United Retail Group.
