Gartmore and Villanova Capital Name Global CIO, Combine Investment Teams

 plc (Gartmore) and Villanova Capital today announced the appointment of Peter
 Chambers as Global Chief Investment Officer of their newly combined investment
 divisions.
     As part of this initiative, Gartmore's U.S. equity team will be
 transferring from London to Villanova's U.S. headquarters effective June 1,
 2001. The team manages U.S. $2.6 billion (as of December 31, 2000) in assets
 for non-U.S. clients. All U.S. equity portfolio responsibilities are
 unchanged.
     Gartmore and Villanova have been working together since the acquisition of
 Gartmore by Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company in May 2000 to pursue
 synergies in critical business areas, including product development and
 distribution, investment research, and trading. The appointment of Peter
 Chambers, who is currently CIO for Gartmore, represents a significant
 milestone in the organizations' goal to build a global asset management
