General Dynamics Awarded $7.3M Ammunition Contract Option

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Ordnance
 and Tactical Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:   GD),
 announced today that the U.S. Army ARDEC/TACOM Command at Picatinny Arsenal,
 N.J., has exercised a $7.3 million option on an existing ammunition contract
 for the supply of 75,000 rounds of 25mm M919 Armor-Piercing, Fin Stabilized,
 Discarding Sabot-Tracer (APFSDS-T) ammunition.
     The M919 round, which is fired from the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, is the
 only medium caliber long-rod armor-piercing round of ammunition produced in
 the United States.  This contract will be managed out of General Dynamics'
 Marion, Ill., facility.  Manufacture of ammunition will be conducted in Marion
 and at a Downey, Calif., facility.
 
     General Dynamics, headquartered in Falls Church, Va., employs
 approximately 46,000 people and anticipates 2001 sales of approximately $11.5
 billion.  The company has leading market positions in business aviation,
