NVTC to Honor Virginia Governor Tim Kaine With Prestigious Chairman's Award Presented by Senator Mark Warner and NVTC Chair Donna Morea; First-Ever NVTC Green Awards to Be Presented
HERNDON, Va.,Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), the largest technology council in the nation, announced today that General George W. Casey, Jr., Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will provide the keynote address at this year's annual TechCelebration banquet on November 16 with the program starting at 6:30 p.m. at The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner. General Casey became the 36th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army on April 10, 2007. In his previous assignment, he was the Commander, Multi-National Force - Iraq, a coalition of over thirty countries, from July 1, 2004 to February 10, 2007. In addition, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine will receive NVTC's prestigious Chairman's award for his exemplary service to the Commonwealth. Presenting the award will be Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) and NVTC Board Chair and President of CGI, Donna Morea. Past recipients of the Chairman's Award include former Congressman Tom Davis (2008), former Senator John Warner (2007) and former Governor Mark Warner (2005).
NVTC will also announce the first NVTC Green Awards at TechCelebration to honor area technology companies, universities, and organizations that are making an impact on the region through top-notch green practices. The awards will recognize one large (over $50 million revenue) and one small (under $50 million revenue) organization (this includes companies, non-profits and universities) for their work towards carbon footprint abatement, job creation in the region, energy efficiencies and renewable power use, among other criteria. The large organization finalists are CSC, ICF International and Micron Technology, Inc. The small organization finalists are Catch the Wind Ltd., Power Loft LLC and Renaissance Lighting.
