Genus Receives Order From New Taiwan-Based Customer

    SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Genus, Inc. (Nasdaq:   GGNS)
 announced it has received an order for a Lynx2(R) system from a new customer
 in Taiwan.  The advanced technology system will be used for the manufacture of
 proprietary test components and is scheduled for delivery in the second
 quarter of 2001.
     Bob Wilson, executive vice president of worldwide sales, said, "This order
 demonstrates our ability to grow globally and penetrate new markets with our
 advanced technologies.  Genus now has six customers worldwide which is double
 the number of last year."

     While this system initially will be placed in an R&D environment, the
