Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Irvin Says Undeclared Allergens In Recalled Grilled Chicken Strips

    ATLANTA, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Simmons Foods of Arkansas has recalled
 grilled chicken breast strips because of undeclared allergens (whey and egg
 yolk), Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin said his department
 learned today from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and
 Inspection Service (FSIS).
     "We haven't heard of any reported illness, but persons who have allergies
 to either whey or egg yolks should check the source of any grilled chicken
 breast strips," Commissioner Irvin said.  "The product was shipped nationwide
 to restaurants and institutions."
     All of the affected product was packed in 40-pound cases labeled with the
 plant number, P-20287.  The GRILLED CHICKEN BREAST STRIPS WITH RIB MEAT being
 recalled have the following productions codes on the cases: 50118, 60054,
 50055, or 50054.
     "Our field sanitarians will be looking for the chicken on their routine
 checks of retail and wholesale food sales establishments, but anyone who has
 the product should return it to the point of purchase," Commissioner Irvin
 said.
