Enhanced Version of Leading E-Learning Application

Enables Corporations to Manage Training Solutions Online

Apr 18, 2001, 01:00 ET from Global Knowledge, Inc.

ANAHEIM, Calif., April 18, WBT Producer Conference & Expo /PRNewswire/ --
Global Knowledge, Inc. (kp.globalknowledge.com), the world's largest
independent provider of integrated IT education solutions, today launches the
next generation of its comprehensive, Web-based e-Learning application,
Knowledge Pathways(TM) 3.0. Knowledge Pathways provides corporations
worldwide a platform for designing, delivering, tracking and reporting online
training. This includes a powerful online assessment capability designed to
enable constant evaluation and improvement of corporate-wide e-Learning
 programs.
Longtime Knowledge Pathways user Margaret Lynch, manager of project and
user support at Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Inc., looks forward to
implementing today's release of version 3.0. Lynch used Knowledge Pathways at
her previous job, and was so impressed that she incorporated the application
at SJRMC, Inc. when she started there. Every one of the five steps she
applies in organizational learning -- assessing educational needs, developing
curricula, delivering the training, evaluating the training, and monitoring
student knowledge retention -- can be accomplished with Knowledge Pathways.
"We have to train about 3,600 system employees across northern Indiana,
and with Knowledge Pathways we are able to customize course curricula however
and whenever we need to," says Lynch. "We are very much looking forward to
implementing the latest version to further expand our training capabilities."
Version 3.0 introduces a host of new features including a re-designed
"user-friendly" graphic user interface (GUI). This feature, along with
multiple language support and multiple course authorship, provides subject
matter experts, managers and training content editors the opportunity to
collaborate on accurate and customized training materials. Content management
within Knowledge Pathways takes place through reusable learning objects
(RLOs). These easily managed objects can be organized and re-organized into
courses and globally updated, copied and re-purposed for a range of
 e-Learning initiatives.
Mentoring is also now available with Knowledge Pathways 3.0. This
provides the ability to assign experts to specific subjects to interact with
students. This encourages collaboration and promotes more active
 participation in learning by students.
In addition, students can now take a self-test to assess their
understanding of the material prior to a final, reported post-training
 assessment.
"Knowledge Pathways 3.0 is central to Global Knowledge's mission to
deliver blended training solutions to corporations worldwide," says Susan
Deeney, vice president, sales and marketing for the Knowledge Products
division of Global Knowledge. "The latest version of Knowledge Pathways
allows corporations to build customized content assessments, and augment it to
improve delivery and competency. This is the essential solution for companies
as they strive to increase employee productivity and understanding of the
 tasks before them."
Additionally, a hosting option is available with Knowledge Pathways 3.0
via an Application Service Provider (ASP) model of delivery. The ASP model
vastly reduces a company's internal IT support demands and places the care and
maintenance of worldwide e-Learning infrastructure in the experienced hands of
 Global Knowledge.
