    HOUSTON, April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Grant Geophysical, Inc. ("Grant" or "the
 company") announced today that Jim Devine has been appointed Chairman of the
 Board of Directors of the company.
     Mr. Devine has been a commercial consultant to the oil and gas industry
 since 1996.  He served as Corporate Vice President and General Counsel of the
 Coflexip Stena Offshore Group from 1994 to 1996.  Mr. Devine has served since
 1999 as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Horizon Offshore Inc., an
 offshore marine construction company and continues to serve in this capacity.
     Grant Geophysical, Inc. is involved in the acquisition, processing and
 marketing of 2D and 3D seismic data used by the oil and gas exploration and
 development industry in the search for new reserves, the development of
