About The Great Oaks Tutor Corps: Great Oaks recruits the best and brightest college graduates from across the country to dedicate a year of service to urban students. During their one-year commitment, tutors work full-time, providing one-on-one and small group instruction to Great Oaks Charter School student.
The Tutor Corps is composed of a diverse group of dedicated young people who invest their time and energy in the academic success of urban youth, while building authentic relationships with students and their families.

Tutor Corps Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Have a 4-year degree from a competitive school
- Applicants must be at least 20 years old
- Applicants must have U.S. work authorization
About the Teacher Residency Program
Great Oaks partners with New York University to offer a program that blends the inherent benefits of working full-time as a tutor for a full year with the benefits that a large graduate school of education can offer. The first year of the Teacher Residency program consists of practical coursework taken while working within a GO schools as a tutor, culminating in initial certification as a classroom teacher.
In the second year, Residents are teaching in either a charter or district school under an experienced teacher mentor, during which time they are working toward a Master's degrees in English Education from NYU.
