Grey Wolf, Inc. Announces Nomination of Directors

    HOUSTON, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Grey Wolf, Inc. (Amex:   GW) ("Grey Wolf"
 or the "Company"), announced today that Robert E. Rose and James K. B. Nelson
 have been nominated for election as Class II directors at the Company's
 upcoming annual meeting to be held May 15, 2001.  Mr. Nelson currently serves
 on the Company's Board of Directors.  The Company also announced that Roy T.
 Oliver, Jr., President of U. S. Rig and Equipment, has informed the Board of
 Directors that he will not stand for reelection at the May 15, 2001 annual
 meeting of shareholders.
     Tom Richards, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer said, "We
 want to thank Roy Oliver for his dedicated service and contribution to the
 Company over the past five years.  Roy's contribution was instrumental in the
 recapitalization of the Company in 1996 and his insight will certainly be

     Robert E. Rose serves as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
 of Global Marine Inc., an international offshore drilling contractor.  Mr.
 Rose has served in this capacity since May 1999 and served as President, Chief
 Executive Officer and a Director of Global Marine Inc. since May 1998.  Prior
 to that Mr. Rose was President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of
 Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc. ("Diamond Offshore").  He serves on the
 Department of Energy's National Petroleum Council and Spindletop
 International's Board of Trustees.  Mr. Rose is a member of the board of
 directors of Superior Energy Services, Inc., the American Bureau of Shipping,
 the Offshore Energy Center (Vice Chairman Emeritus), the American Petroleum
 Institute, the National Ocean Industries Association (Chairman - 1998) and the
 International Association of Drilling Contractors (Chairman - 1994).
