Gucci Group and Stella McCartney Announce New Appointment

    AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Gucci Group N.V.
 (NYSE:   GUC) (Euronext Amsterdam: GCCI.AS) and Stella McCartney announce today
 the appointment of James C. Seuss, 37 as Chief Executive Officer of the new
 Stella McCartney label.  The appointment will take effect on May 21, 2001.
     James has an in-depth knowledge of the luxury goods industry.  During his
 12 years with Tiffany & Co., he has acquired wide experience in luxury retail
 and wholesale distribution in key Asian and European markets. His most recent
 position has been as Managing Director of Tiffany & Co in the UK, a post he
 has served in for the past four years.
