MELBOURNE, Fla., May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- No Wires Needed, BV of the
Netherlands will demonstrate a fast wireless local area networking (WLAN)
product suite at next week's Networld+Interop trade show in Las Vegas. NWN's
product suite includes WLAN adapter cards for PCs (both PCMCIA and ISA
formats), a wireless hub, access point and building-to-building bridges. The
product suite employs Harris' PRISM(R) WLAN Chip Set and achieves high rate,
11 megabits per second data rates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band.
"No Wires Needed has been very aggressive in pushing the data rate
envelope and developing a suite of products to cover the needs of most
enterprise and small office/home office customers," said Ron Van Dell, vice
president and general manager of Harris Semiconductor's Communications
Products Business. "They have also been very active in interoperability
studies, such as that done with the University of New Hampshire. We're very
proud to have our PRISM chip set on board their products."
Hans van der Hoek, president and CEO of No Wires Needed said, "No Wires
Needed can help its worldwide customers become more successful by providing
them flexible network solutions with lower costs of ownership. NWN's 1100
series does just that -- it delivers all the features of today's wired
enterprise networks with the advantages of mobility, flexibility and freedom
 from wires."
The 11Mbps Wireless LAN Product Suite is the world's first complete set of
high-speed wireless products, and complies to the worldwide IEEE 802.11
standard. The Product Suite comprises a complete on-site mobility solution,
supporting high-speed data communications, voice-over-IP and multimedia.
Included in the suite: the Swallow 1100 PCMCIA card for laptops and PDAs; the
Falcon 1100 ISA card for desktop PCs; the Pelican 1100 Wireless Hub to serve
 printers, workstations and other Ethernet-capable devices, such as Apple Macs;
the Parrot 1100 Access Point, a wireless-to-backbone bridge that creates a
picocellular infrastructure to cover an organization's entire campus; and the
 WBS-1100 and WBC-1100 outdoor bridges for LAN-to-LAN or building-to-building
bridging. All products operate as a wireless extension of an Ethernet Local
 Area Network.
Products are displayed at Booth #5811 -- the site of extensive
interoperability demonstrations sponsored by vendors participating in the
Wireless LAN InterOperability Lab of the University of New Hampshire.
