PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- HDS Global announced today that Ingram Micro has entered into an agreement with HDS Global in order to secure exclusive worldwide rights to RoboFS in the IT, mobility, and connected device distribution and logistics services industries. Developed by HDS, RoboFS is a software-defined fulfillment system that combines intelligent vision and swarm software with mobile and articulated robots into an end-to-end solution that dramatically advances service level capabilities and delivers significant volume throughput increases without increasing facility size.
"Ingram Micro is committed to leveraging the best in technology innovation to constantly improve upon the world-class service our customer and vendor partners have come to expect from us," said Ken Beyer, EVP Commerce & Fulfillment Solutions. "We have been evaluating robotics solutions for wholesale and ecommerce fulfillment and believe RoboFS has the potential to be transformative across our global network of over 150 facilities."
"Large-scale fulfillment is undergoing a fundamental transition from hardware-first to software-first. Companies who integrate RoboFS may be able to reduce distribution costs by more than 40%," said Louis H. Borders, founder and CEO of HDS. "We are extremely pleased that Ingram Micro has joined Toyota as a participant in our RoboFS Purchaser Program, and we believe their industry expertise will be invaluable to HDS."
The RoboFS Purchaser Program is designed for Global 500 manufacturers and distributors with large-scale mixed-SKU fulfillment operations. The Program is limited to five participants who will benefit operationally and gain strategic, industry-exclusive rights to RoboFS while strengthening the RoboFS platform by providing expertise, validation and buying power.
