Hogs and Steeds-of-Steel Indoors for Giant Motorcycle Swap Meet, Michigan State Fairgrounds, April 22

Apr 12, 2001, 01:00 ET from Staton Lorenz

DETROIT, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Rolling thunder usually means spring
showers ... not Sunday, April 22 ... when thousands of bikers will converge on
the State Fairgrounds for the 26th annual "Giant Motorcycle Swap Meet and
 Leather Sale," 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
It takes three buildings, over 100,000 square feet, to display all the
beautiful motorcycles and related merchandise necessary to dress up a rider
 and his or her machine.
Dealers and private individuals who just cleaned out their garage offer
"swap meet" prices on new and used motorcycles, parts, accessories, chrome,
custom painting, frames, helmets, tires, wheels, trailers, leather repair,
knife sharpening, insurance and biker-lifestyle items such as tattoos,
jewelry, patches and t-shirts that say most anything.
Street, dirt, touring and cruising riders merge, with all brands welcome,
to discuss customizing tips, paint tricks, plan riding trips and select from
the greatest variety of leather apparel found anywhere.
Event director Staton Lorenz says, "We try to have new products and new
services at every Meet. Vendors come from ten states and they know the
Detroit bikers expect quality and unique ideas. It's a great showcase for the
creative geniuses that help turn motorcycles into very unique personal
statements; providing this variety and value is my personal objective." Adds
Lorenz, "For sellers it's more fun than a want ad."
Doorprizes include airfare for two to Bike Week 2002 on Spirit Airlines
and local pro sports and concert tickets. No purchase necessary.
     Adults $7, kids 6-12 $1.50, under 6 free. Parking $6, motorcycles $4.
Woodward Avenue at 8 Mile Road, enter off Woodward. Info: 800-968-4242 or
