Nationwide Financial High Income Survey gives insight into needs,

preferences of successful professionals

Apr 12, 2001, 01:00 ET from Nationwide Financial Services, Inc.

    COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- America's most successful
professionals are sharing their retirement and financial planning secrets.
Nationwide Financial will release results of its annual High Income Survey
next month. The results will reveal their knowledge and perception of
financial services, what motivates these people to plan and their personal
 financial habits.
Washington D.C.-based Greenwald & Associates conducted the poll on behalf
of Nationwide Financial in February. The company interviewed 500 doctors,
lawyers, attorneys, small business owners and corporate executives under age
60 with household incomes above $150,000 per year.
"This is the most comprehensive poll of its kind," said Mathew Greenwald,
president of Greenwald & Associates, which also conducts the national
Retirement Confidence Poll, as well as many other polls dealing with
retirement readiness in the United States. "The Nationwide Financial High
Income Survey is unique in that it specifically targets successful,
professional Americans on financial issues most important to them. These
people are often the indicators for what the rest of the country should do
when it comes to successful financial planning, although survey results show
that even the most affluent have gaps in knowledge and practice that interfere
with their reaching their most important financial goals."
Nationwide Financial will release results to reporters in mid-May. To be
on the first release list, send an e-mail to goldstt@nationwide.com .
Nationwide Financial Services, Inc. (NYSE: NFS), based in Columbus, is a
leading provider of annuities, life insurance, retirement plans, mutual funds,
and other financial services for individuals and institutional clients. Its
principal holding, Nationwide Life Insurance Company, is among the country's

With year-end assets under management of $111 billion, Nationwide
Financial is the retirement savings and income operation of Nationwide, a
leading provider of diversified insurance and financial services. The parent
company is ranked #127 on the Fortune 500. For more information about
