Apr 26, 2001, 01:00 ET from Howtek, Inc.

HUDSON, N.H., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Howtek, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOWT) and
Nuclear Associates of Carle Place, NY today announced an agreement where
Nuclear Associates, a leader in the radiation oncology and diagnostic imaging
market, will exclusively offer Howtek MultiRAD medical film digitizers with
Nuclear Associates' medical imaging products and systems. Nuclear Associates'
products, which include Gafchromic Media, Image Based Quality Assurance
systems, and Picture Archiving and Communications (PACS) Quality Control
products, are used to help planning, measurement and monitoring of radiation
treatment programs. Nuclear Associates is a division of Inovision, Inc.
Howtek MultiRAD digitizers are distinguished by an extended 3.85 optical
density (OD) range offering the ability to " see more" in the dark regions of
a film and a spatial resolution of up to 5.75 lp/mm and 11.5 lp/mm to "see
more" structural detail in the images. This combination of density range and
structural resolution is unsurpassed in the market. The MultiRAD family offers
the latest technology in analog to digital conversion software and a patent-
pending Red LED Solid State Illumination System. This technology allows Howtek
to ensure that diagnostic image quality is available consistently from edge to
edge, top to bottom, scan to scan, day to day.
"We are looking forward to marketing the Howtek MultiRAD line of medical
film digitizers," stated Martin Ratner, Nuclear Associates' Vice President and
General Manager. "Howtek's MultiRAD digitizers are designed to offer image
quality, dependability and value superior to that available from digitizers
using older laser or fluorescent illumination technologies. Testing requested
by Nuclear Associates at a leading university has shown that superior results
are produced when using Gafchromic Media and the Howtek MultiRAD(TM) 460
Digitizer. The results of the study will be presented at the American
Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) 2001."
Scott Parr, Howtek's President, noted that the agreement with Nuclear
Associates represents a new market opportunity for Howtek, "We are pleased to
enter the radiation oncology planning market with Nuclear Associates. They are
respected and established in applications including dosimetry, or dose
measurement and quality control and assurance in radiation oncology. We
believe this relationship will promote Howtek MultiRAD products to a new class
 prospects and users."
