HubStorm Launches eSupplier and Signs First Customers

Fastenal, Hach and Dale Electric Select HubStorm eSupplier as the Solution

For Their Supplier Enablement Challenges

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from HubStorm Corporation

    MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- HubStorm(R) Corporation, a
provider of turnkey supplier enablement solutions, announced today that
HubStorm eSupplier(TM) is now available, and three new customers are deploying
the technology. The HubStorm supplier enablement software eliminates the
technical obstacles that prevent suppliers from trading online and enables
them to more easily participate in multiple e-procurement systems and
e-marketplaces. In need of an end-to-end supplier enablement solution,
Fastenal, Hach and Dale Electric are the first customers to adopt HubStorm
 eSupplier.
HubStorm eSupplier provides comprehensive B2B e-channel management
functionality, including rich catalog content management and syndication,
transaction management and consolidation, and back-end integration. The
software features a Universal Adapter, which translates catalog content and
transaction data for universal support across all standard platforms
 -- Ariba(R), Commerce One(R), Microsoft(R) BizTalk(TM), PurchasePro(R),
RightWorks(R), and others. This removes the barriers between disparate
systems and allows suppliers to manage all transactions and catalogs through a
 single interface.

     HubStorm eSupplier Customers
The new HubStorm eSupplier customers, Fastenal, Hach, and Dale Electric,
will use the software to automate and consolidate transactions and manage a
master catalog, which, in turn, will streamline their supply chains, reduce
costs, increase transaction speed, and reach new customers.

-- Fastenal Company - The fastest growing full-line industrial distributor
and the largest fastener distributor in the nation. Fastenal
(Nasdaq: FAST) reported $750 million in sales last year, offering
100,000 SKUs to more than 290,000 buyers.

The company connects with e-procurement systems, including those
operated by Weyerhaeuser, Polaroid, Hasbro, as well as Louisiana
Pacific; and participates in e-marketplaces such as ICG Commerce,
WorldCrest and Enporion. Fastenal intends to use HubStorm eSupplier to
reach a greater percentage of its customers more quickly.

"We are particularly impressed with HubStorm eSupplier's catalog
deployment capabilities," said Brian Fihn, e-business development
manager of Fastenal. "Currently we manage more than 125 catalogs
through a semi-automated process. eSupplier allows for one master
catalog and enables us to fully automate updates, syndication and
        delivery."
-- Hach Company - Designs and manufactures systems for water quality
analysis for field use, laboratories, and process monitoring. Hach
offers more than 7,000 SKUs worldwide and currently participates in
several e-marketplaces and e-procurement systems. "Now, with HubStorm
eSupplier, we can better automate our online transactions, cut costs,
and increase revenues while managing our catalogs more efficiently,"
said Derek Walker, eBusiness manager at Hach. "HubStorm's technology
will open new doors for us to interface with more buyers including
        those running e-procurement systems."

HubStorm eSupplier is available through a subscription license on
HubStorm's secure 24x7 hosting environment or through a term license
with the product resident on the customer's servers. "We are
particularly excited HubStorm offers a hosted solution so we don't need
additional IT resources to manage the system. HubStorm does that for
us," said Walker. As an additional benefit, HubStorm eSupplier will
support Commerce One Round Trip and Ariba Punch-out for the Hach web
        site catalog.
-- Dale Electric Supply - A distributor of residential, commercial,
industrial, municipal, and MRO electrical supplies. Dale Electric
offers more than 250,000 SKUs of electrical parts and accessories,
including electrical systems, lighting and tools. Within days of
deploying HubStorm eSupplier, Dale Electric has successfully connected
to 30 e-marketplaces and e-procurement systems powered by Commerce One
buy-side technology. Within the next month, the company plans to
connect to additional buyers running Ariba buy-side technology,
including Texaco, one of Dale's biggest customers. Using HubStorm
eSupplier, Dale Electric expects to connect to hundreds of buyers and
expand their business ten-fold in just a few years.

"With the ability to syndicate a single catalog compatible with Ariba,
Commerce One, PurchasePro, and others, we can reduce costs, improve our
service to existing customers and develop new business," said Scott
Schwartz, president of Dale Electric. "There is a large void in our
industry -- few electrical suppliers are connecting with buyers online.
We plan to fill that void -- sell to those buyers and grow
        dramatically."

     HubStorm eSupplier
HubStorm eSupplier provides an end-to-end supplier enablement solution to
streamline e-channel management -- from connecting to multiple buyers and
integrating legacy systems to automating transactions and managing catalogs.
"HubStorm eSupplier features the broadest range of functionality of any
supplier enablement solution available," said Ricardo C. Berrios, HubStorm's
vice president of strategic development. "We're offering an enterprise
solution that enables companies to effectively and profitably connect and
 manage their e-channels."

-- Universal adapter - enables suppliers to connect to multiple
e-procurement systems and e-marketplaces by translating data across all
standard formats, including Ariba cXML, Commerce One xCBL, Microsoft
BizTalk, and other traditional data sharing protocols.
-- Rich catalog content management - enables suppliers to manage a single
master catalog with content, pricing and rich information (such as
images, spreadsheets, and presentations) and syndicate and deliver this
rich catalog to multiple trading partners.
-- Consolidated order management - enables suppliers to manage all orders
via a single interface, eliminating the need for suppliers to check
multiple systems to collect, log and track transactions.
-- Pre-built interfaces for EAI and legacy system integration - provide
for full XML connectivity via industry-standard protocols. These
interfaces include pricing, shipping charges, customer accounts, order
placement, order verification, order status and shipping status.
-- Rules-based engine - enables suppliers to easily set rules for dynamic
pricing, shipping charges, tax charges, and order acknowledgment.
-- Sell-side B2B trading - enables suppliers to deploy their own
        e-commerce storefronts with buyer-specific content. This sell-side
catalog feature supports Commerce One Round Trip and Ariba Punch-out.
